According to a legend, Baba was travelling in a train. The ticket collector asked him for a ticket, which he did not have. The ticket collector then made him get off the train at the next station. Surprisingly, the train stopped at the same place and did not move.
When the train guards and officers got worried, they were told that the sadhu was dropped near the village “Karoli”. They all went and apologized to Baba and requested him to sit back in the train. As soon as Baba sat in the train, the train started moving again. From then on people started calling him “Neeb Karori Baba” . This name later became famous as Neem Karoli Baba .
